Around fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered many other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report early analysis show the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.
An important political figure commented the vandalism made him stunned and had to be solved promptly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, referring to the death of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
